IATA - The International
Air Transport Association - was founded in Havana,
Cuba, in April 1945. It is the prime vehicle for
inter-airline cooperation in promoting safe, reliable,
secure and economical air services - for the benefit
of the world's consumers. The international scheduled
air transport industry is now more than 100 times
larger than it was in 1945. Few industries can match
the dynamism of that growth, which would have been
much less spectacular without the standards, practices
and procedures developed within IATA.
Founded in 1951, the Pacific Asia
Travel Association (PATA) continues to be the leading
authority, advocate and catalyst for the development
of Asia Pacific’s travel and tourism industry.
PATA's uniquely structured
organisation has helped unite the many facets of
tourism in the region.
The
USACA serves as the national trade
association for those air consolidator businesses
committed to integrity, trust and reliability. It
is an association of air consolidator members, not
travel agents, therefore any travel agent may freely
and confidently look to USACA members for all of
their air consolidation needs.
Skål is
a professional organisation of tourism leaders around
the world, promoting global tourism and friendship.
It is the only international group uniting all branches
of the travel and tourism industry. Its members,
the industry's managers and executives, meet at
local, national, regional and international levels
to discuss and pursue topics of common interest.
ASTA, short for
the American Society of Travel Agents, is the world's
largest association of travel professionals. It's
20,000 plus members include travel agents and companies
which sell products such as tours, cruises, hotels,
car rentals, etc. It is the leading advocate for
travel agents, the travel industry and the traveling
public.
